Lido Cafe Weddings

Lido Cafe Weddings are awesome. A fantastic wedding venue situated on the edge of Brockwell Park in Herne Hill. Fitting for a truly awesome couple like Katie and Jon! Both teachers and deeply, madly in love with each other.

Like all good wedding days this one started down the pub. Not just any old pub but the Crown and Greyhound that sits majestically in the centre of Dulwich Village. A pub with a fine heritage and colloquially known by locals as ‘The Dog’. A few relaxing pints were consumed in the sun before heading off to Dulwich College. The Civil Ceremony was scheduled to take place in the beautiful Old Library in the College grounds. Here Katie and Jon exchanged vows with friends giving emotional readings. A quartet played while they signed the register.

Outside I took a few requested family group photo’s. The last being a gathering of the whole wedding party outside the Old Library. Then a quick wedding walk around the grounds for some reportage shots of the smiling couple enjoying their first moments together in married perpetuity. After a couple of glasses of Champagne we were heading a short distance up the road by London taxi to the Lido Cafe in Brockwell, Herne Hill.

I love The Lido Cafe. It’s a vibrant, stylish venue. The staff, food and service are all excellent. It’s not a huge space but that’s part of the cosy intimate appeal. The other is having a 1920’s sky blue open air swimming pool as a backdrop. You even get a few ducks for company in the evening! It’s got such an amazing atmosphere inside that you can’t help but have a fab party with family and friends. The terrace by the pool is perfect on a Summers day and there’s plenty of space to roast a whole hog.

The couple and their friends and family had a fantastic celebration. Laughter and smiles all day and evening. Another reason why Lido Cafe Weddings are superb.

Top work as always, Loz. Love image 007 – the guy lost in the moment with his pint. The simple things…

Thank you Katie! You, Jon, your friends and family were fantastic. That’s what made the day amazing. I just happened to be there to record it. Hope you and Jon are both well and enjoying being back in Manchester. London is missing a lovely couple! xox

I love how you don’t necessarily crush the blacks in your post production, it has a beautiful Scandinavian feel about it. I always used to be obsessed with getting black blacks in the dark room but there’s something timeless about it which really suits your work.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don’t. Really depends on the feel I have for each wedding.
