Dorset Wedding – Smedmore House

A Dorset Wedding on the beautiful Jurassic Coast is probably high on the ‘want’ list for lots of brides. Imagine the deep blue sea gently lapping against the rocks as your back drop. The stunning Smedmore House in amazing grounds just a short walk from stunning Kimmeridge Bay. The most classic of classic cars, a Jaguar XK50. Furthermore, a wonderful couple, deeply in love and full of life. In conclusion I give you a perfect Dorset Wedding!

It nearly wasn’t a Dorset Wedding. When I first met the couple it was originally planned somewhere else due to the forces of nature colluding against them. Basically the sea stole some land and hence a necessary change of venue. It may have caused some extra work but it was definitely worth it in the end.

The bride originally hailed from Dorset and met her husband to be at University. Consequently their two worlds from the Arts and Medicine collided and became firmly glued together!

A wonderful Dorset Wedding

Back to the wedding. First of all a very emotional service at the Church of St Laurence in Affpuddle. What a great name for a village (I’m guessing it’s Anglo Saxon). The bride arrived in that rather amazing Jaguar Xk50. From there to Smedmore House for the reception which was held in a marquee on the lawn in front of the house. Before digging into the wedding breakfast guests were treated to drinks and canapés in the garden behind Smedmore House. This allowed some time for group photos and then some wonderful speeches from the Groom, Brides Father, Best Man and finally the bride.

Finally it was time to get the party going in the Marquee. Probably the best party held on the lawns of Smedmore House for years! A brilliant band got everyone in the mood and it wasn’t long before everyone was on the dance floor!

Finally I’d like to raise my own toast to the Bride and Groom. They were fantastic and made sure I was well looked after with something to eat and drink during the course of a long but very enjoyable day. Wish you both the very, very best! X

PS Any chance I can borrow that car one weekend! 🙂
