Dulwich Picture Gallery Wedding

I love a Dulwich Picture Gallery Wedding. Art, culture, history and groundbreaking architecture. It’s all here! Best of all I live locally, just a 10 minute walk away on the other side of Dulwich Park. The Dulwich Picture Gallery was designed by Sir Richard Soane. It’s the oldest public art gallery in the UK. It’s also a perfect wedding venue just 5 miles from the City of London. So close yet it feels like an English village wedding! The bride and groom were very lucky to have the actual wedding ceremony next door in the beautiful Christ’s Chapel. A lovely privilege for the fortunate alumni at one of the nearby Foundation Schools.

The ceremony at Christ’s Chapel is always warm and traditional. Its smaller space and layout feels very close and intimate. The chapel is very atmospheric with dark wood panelling and huge oil paintings. Photography at the front of the church is not allowed but there are still great vantage points. Following the ceremony it’s a short hop next door to the main gallery. There is a long banqueting table awaiting the couple. The room is surrounded by Rembrandt, Gainsborough and Canaletto masterpieces. Champagne and delicious canapés are consumed by guests before being seated for the meal. The wedding party only pause briefly for speeches. Following the wedding breakfast it’s party time in the Linbury room. Or maybe a chilled stroll through the Dulwich Picture Gallery gardens. As usual the staff here are amazing. They always ensure that a Dulwich Picture Gallery Wedding is a life long memory.
