The Roost – Hackney Wedding

The Roost. A wedding, event, film and photo studio in Dalston Hackney. How cool is that? I’m not a big fan of describing a venue as cool but this is certainly a fabulous venue if you’re looking for something exciting and different. The Roost is a converted Victorian pub and a perfect location for a London Wedding. It boasts a garden out back and three floors for your guests to spread out, eat, drink, be entertained and dance. In short it’s an awesome space and makes a great change from those bland beige ‘wedding factory’ halls!

This was the second of two weddings I photographed for this couple. The first wedding was a couple of weeks earlier. An intimate and close family gathering at The House at Clissold Park. Another stunning Hackney Wedding Venue. The Roost however was where the real party was going to happen. The couple had some great ideas and used the event company Lemonade and Laughing Gas to make them a reality. I’m guessing the brief was simply make this a celebration our guests will remember for the next fifty years. There’s no doubt in my mind that they definitely succeeded!

Everything was just perfect. Firstly, a magical ceremony conducted by world famous magician Neil Henry with a sting quartet playing sublimely. Endless food, cocktails and a delicious wedding breakfast. A fantastic BBQ in the garden and lots of Burlesque, Acrobatic and off the wall entertainment that popped up and kept you guessing. The band was also a massive hit and a great warm up before the evening sound system and mirror balls in the basement! There were plenty of other little touches that combined to make this wedding unique. I loved the random props scattered around including a Pink Flamingo. I had to fight myself to keep away from the ‘Old School’ confectionary table and join the queue for the very popular face painting.

In conclusion if you want to have the wedding party of a lifetime in London then The Roost is just the thing. Just add amazing couple and crazy friends! Love you guys – X
